London, and then the RAF Tangmere Fighter Base
We'll cross the English Channel from Dover to Calais, France with English speaking guide for a full sightseeing tour of some of the most significant Battlefields of World Wars I & II. - Visit the World War I battlefields of Chateau Thierry and Belleau Woods-
- We'll proceed to Reims and visit the sight of the German Surrender in World War II- - We'll then visit the fortress town of Verdun, sight of the bloodiest battle of World War I and visit Forts Douaumont and Vaux as well as French Cemetery and Ossuary (where the remains of over 90,000 French Soldiers lie). We'll proceed to visit the Maginot Line and Fort Fremont, (the only fort that remains as it was before the war).
-We'll travel to Luxembourg and visit the American Cemetery where General George Patton is buried-
-We'll spend a night in the town of Bastogne, touring the Bastogne Historical Center, Mardasson Monument, as well as McAuliffe Square in the heart of this historic city-
- We'll continue our tour up to Holland and visit Nijmegan and Arnhem (sights of the most famous airborne operation in history and immortalized in Cornelius Ryan's book "A Bridge Too Far"). From there, we'll travel to the Dutch port city of Rotterdam.
Re-cross the Channel and proceed to Cambridge, England where we'll visit The American Cemetery. The finale of the trip will be a tour of the Duxford Aviation Museum. The following day we'll be attending the Duxford Air Show for the 60th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain and the final 'official' reunion of the Battle of Britain veterans!
