First
Flap of the Day
by
Nicolas Trudgian
Hurricane pilots were credited with four-fifths of all RAF victories
in the Battle of Britain guaranteeing the Hawker Hurricane its place
in history as Britain's most successful fighter during the most significant
air battle of World Was II. Loved by its pilots, this study little fighter
could take all kinds of damage and still fly its pilot home.
Seen in the forefront of the painting is the Mk I Hurricane flown by
Ian Gleed, as he and other 87 Squadron pilots make a hurried return
to their field.
