The Age of Chivalry
by
Michael Turner
The print captures a typical scene at a German airdrome close to the front in the spring of 1917. A victorious German pilot, quite possibly Gustav Boehl, makes a triumphant low pass in his beautifully streamlined Albatros D III fighter plane.

Gustav Boehl
born January 22, 1895 in Aue, Germany

In 1995 Boehl was living in his native town of Aue in a very picturesque area of Germany. He was in excellent health and enjoying smoking his pipe, playing the piano and talking about the "Age of Chivalry", when gallantry ruled the skies over Europe.
This aviation legend has personally signed each of the prints, and to the best of our knowledge, it is the only considerably sized aviation art edition ever to be published with the authentic signature of a highly decorated German WW I aviator.
