Flying his P-51D Mustang Scat VII, Major Robin Olds, commander of the 479th Fighter Group’s 434th Squadron, is seen bringing down an Me109 high over Germany in the spring of 1945 while flying escort to B-17 Fortresses of the 381st Bomb Group. Robin Olds completed two tours in World War II, becoming an Ace in both the P-38 Lightning and the P-51 Mustang.
